The Ajman 8th International Environment Conference 2026, organised by the Municipality & Planning Department – Ajman on 28 and 29 October, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, will announce and honour the winners of the third edition of the Humaid Bin Rashid International Sustainability Award in recognition of their contributions to promoting sustainability and advancing innovative environmental practices. The ceremony will take place during the conference, held under the theme “From Commitment to Action: Towards Sustainability, Enhancing Climate Resilience and Achieving Carbon Neutrality.”
In this regard, Dr. Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector at the Department and Chairman of the Conference’s Higher Organising Committee, affirmed that the award reflects the commitment to encouraging scientific research and recognising institutions and initiatives that provide innovative solutions to protect the environment and promote sustainability. He noted that holding the award ceremony alongside the conference strengthens the integration of scientific knowledge and practical application while supporting the exchange of expertise and experiences to address environmental and climate challenges.
450 Entries
He explained that the third edition of the award attracted 450 entries from various entities, institutions and countries, reflecting growing interest in sustainability and broader participation in developing environmental practices and promoting innovation. It also highlights the commitment of institutions and researchers to presenting initiatives and ideas that contribute to sustainable development.
Four Main Categories
Al Hosani stated that the award comprises four main categories: Environmental Personality, Best Research, Sustainable Institutions, and Innovative Ideas. The Best Research and Sustainable Institutions categories each recognise three winners, while the Innovative Ideas Award is presented to one winner in recognition of outstanding contributions offering solutions and ideas that support environmental sustainability.
He further explained that the award aligns with the conference’s objectives of translating environmental and climate commitments into practical measures and actionable solutions by encouraging innovative ideas, supporting specialised research, and strengthening the role of institutions in adopting sustainable practices that contribute to reducing carbon emissions, enhancing climate resilience, and advancing carbon neutrality.
The Municipality & Planning Department – Ajman continues its efforts to implement impactful initiatives and recognise contributions to the development of sustainable environmental solutions. These efforts strengthen collaboration among researchers, institutions and relevant entities while supporting a more sustainable future for generations to come.
