Ajman, March 1st / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, the activities of the "Ajman Seventh International Environment Conference" will commence on March 5th. The conference, held over two days, will take place under the theme "Climate-Neutral City 2050."
The conference, organized by the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, will be held at the Sheikh Zayed Center for Conferences and Exhibitions at Ajman University, with the participation of more than 15 countries and dozens of international experts and specialists.
The conference will be attended by environmental experts and specialists from various sectors, including energy, oil and gas, manufacturing, municipalities, consulting and contracting companies, environmental agencies, the private sector, university graduates, and individuals interested in environmental issues. The aim is to address the urgent environmental challenges of the current era.
Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector at the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, explained that the Ajman International Environment Conference serves as a platform for discussing ideas that support the country's policy in promoting sustainability and creating a roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality. The conference brings together scientists, professionals, and policymakers from international and national organizations to exchange knowledge on establishing a smart and sustainable environment, supporting sustainable development in the UAE, and creating a roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality.
He stated that the conference has achieved many successes over its course and continues on its path to further success and excellence. He highlighted the participation of a distinguished group of environmental experts from the energy, oil and gas sectors, manufacturing, municipalities, consulting and contracting companies, environmental agencies, the private sector, and university students in the event.
He emphasized the need to raise community awareness about environmental sustainability issues and the importance and value of modern planning. The use, employment, and application of the best and latest technologies contribute to understanding and recognizing climate issues, building materials, and development processes. This helps in preserving the environment and its resources, meeting the needs of community members, and maintaining a healthy and clean society within a sustainable environment.
The first day of the conference will feature several sessions. The first session will focus on the future of climate change and adaptation. The second session, titled "Energy Transition: The Key to Addressing Climate Change," will follow. Additionally, there will be two workshops.
The second day of the conference begins with a session titled "Shaping the Future of Zero Emission Cities and Communities," which includes two sessions dedicated to this theme. The third session is titled "Accelerating Climate Action through Technology and Innovation: Transitioning to Low Carbon Systems, Infrastructure, and Circular Waste Economy." This will be followed by two workshops.
On the first day of the conference, the Hamid bin Rashid International Award for Sustainability will honor the winners of its second edition across four categories. The award aims to recognize and encourage contributions related to sustainability, whether through research in sustainability or individuals who have made significant contributions in the field.
The award is also given to institutions that implement sustainability principles and become exemplary models for other organizations to follow.
The award aims to provide a global platform for exchanging ideas and experiences related to environmental protection and promoting sustainable development across its four categories: Best Research Award, Best Personality Award, Best Institution or Government/Private Facility Award, and Best Label Award.
